The third project expands upon the second project and places the creature we made in the second project in a new environment. My creature was inspired by a motif from traditional Kashmiri rug designs that has an unknown source. However, many traditional Kashmiri rug motifs are derived from flowers or plants. Thus, I think it would be interesting to imagine it in such a setting. If it was a fruit, I could create a tree that has the creatures as fruit hanging on its branches. The coloring of the tree would be similar to the creature: a purple-pink gradient. This would add to the fantastical quality that I have been employing to depict the creature. To add movement to the scene, the creatures would fall off the tree and roll into a ball. Blender has physics simulations that would make this motion look smoother and more realistic. Sounds that emulates tiny beings such as high-pitched screams of joy could be added to the creatures as they roll off the tree.
I also wanted to explore scale in this project. By making the models larger than the viewer, it would allude to the physical and psychological inaccessibility I feel with trying to connect with my culture and the land. Additionally, the large scale represents the vastness of the culture I am trying to access. It is an old culture with an extensive history, and learning about all of the traditions and events can be overwhelming at times. Thus, I want to make the viewer feel similar emotions in an immersive environment.
